Director, Janet Leishman

Our Director is Janet Leishman.  Janet joined the staff in July 2001.  Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hillsdale College and a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from The Citadel.  In addition, Janet has completed more than 30 additional college credits in Early Childhood Education and related courses.

Prior to moving to Wilmington, Janet held administrative positions in a variety of Early Childhood Education settings.  She was the site director at the National Museum of American History’s Smithsonian Early Education Center, the Director of Outreach for Children and Families of Easter Shore Chapel (Virginia Beach, VA), and the Associate Director of Technology Children’s Center, (MIT) in Cambridge, MA.

A glance in her office reveals that she values children, family and dogs!  When she is not working, she enjoys delving into genealogy, baking bread and traveling with friends. Janet serves on the Board of Delaware Association for Education of Young Children. Janet is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
